Toddler Schedules:

General Info

A “toddler” is defined as a 1-3 year old. This is a wide age range during which a lot of sleep and feeding needs change. Ideally, at this age, your toddler should be sleeping through the night without night feedings. But of course, not all babies are the same, but you can use the schedules below as a guide to make one unique to your child.

While your 1-year-old toddler may be taking 2-3 hour naps during the day and sleeping 11-12 hours at night, on average, a 3-year-old is likely to have transitioned to not napping at all during the day, or will soon be doing so at about age 4.

Most babies drop to 12 – 13 hours of sleep in 24 hours, including one afternoon nap at age 2 and some will still be taking 2 afternoon naps at age 1+. On average, toddlers transition to just one afternoon nap a day at age 15 – 18 months. Transitioning too soon may have huge negative effects on your toddler, resulting into a very cranky child.

This article will give an example of 3 different types of schedules, 2 naps, 1 nap and no naps.
